Established in 2019, TSG Engineering is a South African engineering company that combines chemical and process engineering, modelling and automation to design, optimise and control industrial systems. We work from first principles, building mechanistic models based on mass and energy balances, reaction kinetics, thermodynamics and hydraulics that stay valid when a plant operates outside its historical range. Where reliable plant data exists, we develop data-driven models from historical operating records and combine the two into hybrid models that are both physically sound and calibrated to real performance. We run these as steady-state and dynamic process simulations to size equipment, test operating scenarios and remove bottlenecks before capital is spent. Our predictive models forecast plant performance, product quality and compliance, and our digital twins mirror live operations, so that changes can be tested virtually before they are made on site. We then package these models into custom software built for each client. Its dashboards turn model outputs into clear, visual insight, and its scenario-testing tool lets the client's own team ask "what if" questions and see the results for themselves, long after the project is complete.

We apply this capability across mining and minerals processing, manufacturing and industrial process plants, and municipal and agricultural infrastructure, from process design and debottlenecking to energy and resource optimisation, water and effluent treatment, and mine water and closure planning. The same team takes a project from model to commissioned control system, including PLC, SCADA and process control design, so our clients avoid the gaps that open up between separate consultants. Our feasibility studies, design reports and technical reviews are prepared to the standard expected by regulators, lenders and independent engineers.
